A Pup named Harlee
Hello again hopes this finds you well; my weeks are always filled with school work gym and nonsense complying to others needs but at the end of each day this little puppy always turns it around. My topic of choice this evening centers around“Owning a Puppy”: Have you ever owned a dog before? Huge responsibility but huge sense of excitement to your life that maybe you’re longing for. I have a puppy named Harlee she was an accidental mix between pit-bull terrier and yorkie poo every time someone sees her they immediately result to asking what is she mixed with? When I utter the words pit-bull they give her a second look and sometimes automatically shy away from her. Why ?the stereotype behind pit bulls being aggressive, constantly biting and everything about the name has negativity surrounding it but without ever giving her a second look I loved her from the first day I bought her home, at ten weeks old. My boyfriend was not in the least bit interested in owning a dog but now you couldn’t tell him anything about this journey, it’s been really amazing to watch their relationship blossom from fear, nervousness, curiosity, excitement and now pure love. The loyal-ness of a dog is like no love that could ever compare to the amount of joy they provide humans with besides companionship; she never ceases to amaze me with her corky personality. She just turned seven months old and is a ball of spit-fire energy longing for constant attention, hugs, play tine and lots of exercise. She enjoys hiking with mommy, traveling in the car and always is ready to play with other pups and interact with new humans. From potty training to teaching tricks to finding out what she likes and doesn’t like, from different food brands and then skin allergies this ongoing journey has me always on my toes. The pure joy of owning a dog is a simple this: coming home from a long day at work she is there waiting to greet you at the door, the way she lays right on your feet when you sit on the couch to do homework and when she nudges your hand when your upset to let you know she is there makes this journey worth standing in to the end. Harlee is nothing but amazing and I allow her sweetness to rub off on people who shame her for being mixed colors, mixed breed and half of a stereotypical animal breed who is shamed constantly. Be kind to others even animals for one day you may grow to love them.
